There are many specialised roles involved in HR, some of which include change management, HR business partner, employer branding etc. Nonetheless, you would be expected to perform multiple functions in your role as a Human Resourcer.

You will be expected to perform duties such as recruitment and selection of employees, employee relations, complaints and grievances, contracts of employment, training and development, health and safety as well as employee rights. HR generally plays a crucial role in influencing the behaviour of the employees.

There are several sub-niches in the HR department. It trickles down from the HR director and down to the HR assistant. Let’s look at some of the roles in the HR spectrum. 

  • HR Assistant

It is the lowest position in the HR team. It is an entry-level position involved mainly in sorting out employment contract of employees, dealing with all HR enquiries, including sorting out all documentation and paperwork in the department.

  • HR Officer

As an HR officer, you are given a bit more responsibility than the HR assistant. Some of your duties will involve dealing with employee training, inductions, recruitment, absence, payroll, sickness, disciplinary, equal opportunities, grievances, establishing support systems and many others.

  • Recruitment Coordinator

The job of a recruitment coordinator involves a number of roles such as advertising new vacancies, going through applications, arranging for job interviews to be conducted, shortlisting candidates for interviews as well as performing other related duties in the recruitment process.

  • Training Officer

As a training officer, you will be involved in sorting out training requirements for employees. Also, you will be part of designing and implementing different training programs for employees. 

  • HR Manager

The HR manager deals mainly with policies and ensuring the practices of the department are in good standing. They also perform other business needs for the organisation as well as overseeing and supervising other members of the HR department and ensuring that their responsibilities are being performed to the expected standard. They also are involved in salary reviews and employment law, as well as employee welfare. 

  • HR Director

The HR director is usually the head of the HR department. They perform a crucial role in the overall management and control of the expenditure of the entire department. They also have a role in maintaining and promoting awareness of methodologies and go further to provide proper execution within the organisation.
